Many sports present unique obstacles to providing proper emergency medical care either through difficult to reach venues/areas, difficulty in safely extracting an injured athlete and/or specialized protective equipment worn by these athletes. 

 

Without proper training in working with specific sports, sports venues or with specialized protective equipment medical personnel may have difficulty safely reaching, treating and extracting an injured athlete.

Event Medicine Staff are trained to work with specific sports and sports venues. The treatments they provide include sports specific techniques which are used to allow athletes continued participation in their sport the same day rather than having to withdraw. This may include taping, bracing, wound care for athletic participation, movement techniques or chiropractic care, as well as assessing if a concussion has occurred or not to determine if an athlete can safely return to participation.
